Apps Update!!

Hi Everyone, 

Great news! Our Apple app got approved today and is already available on the Apple store!!


We’ll provide a link to it from this page: https://www.outsmarted.app/downloads very soon, but for now you can find it in the App Store - just search for Outsmarted. 


VERY IMPORTANT NOTE

The process for registration is slightly different to what’s described in your physical Outsmarted box and on our support website. This is especially important, but very straightforward. 


After first install when registering the app, you will not have a large padlock as you do on the PC and Android versions. Instead, select "already own the game" in the bottom left of the screen and a login box will pop up. 


You have to perform a one time only login to unlock the content of the app by entering your "username" and "password". 


Simply use your first name as the username and your License Key included in the game box as your password. That's it, providing you entered the correct license key you will have access to the full game content on your device. You're ready to play 💪👊!!

Another update about UK delivery

Hi Everyone,

Apologies for issuing another update so soon after the previous one. 


If you are in the UK and you ordered more than one copy of Outsmarted then please rest assured that your order will be dispatched by our fulfilment company today and your tracking information will follow later today. 


If you have a HERMES tracking number and your tracking link says "we're waiting for your parcel" then this means that it is currently lost somewhere in their courier network. Please send us a private message here on Kickstarter and we will arrange to send out a second game to you tomorrow free of charge. (the first may well still arrive) 


If you do not yet have your tracking number and you ordered only one copy of Outsmarted then it just means that your tracking number has not reached your email. Again, please send us a private message here on Kickstarter and we will forward you a link manually in a reply message with your tracking link.

Update on our progress

 Good morning everyone,

This is a quick update about our progress. 


REALLY IMPORTANT - HOW TO CONTACT US

The most important thing is how to contact us. We have already mentioned that if you would like to speak to us you must please go to www.outsmarted.app and use the contact us form. 


Our average response time is only 2 hours. 


The comments boards on Kickstarter are great, but they are for comment and not a place where we can discuss individual  issues, for a start it is impossible for us to track our responses or for multiple people our side to be involved in responding. 


There is an entirely separate comment board attached to every single project update we send out to you all and it is not possible at the moment for us to monitor all of these boards to look for comments we might need to reply to.  


We have five people manning our support desk on our website, so please, use our website to speak to us. It means you will get the correct information fast. 


UK deliveries

By the end of today all of the UK backers will have received their tracking number, the majority have already received the game. We do not have direct control of this process, but any backers that don't have their game or a tracking number by the close of play today (9pm UK Time) can message us on our support website and we will investigate immediately.  


US deliveries

We are will hopefully be sending out all US orders in one day (this coming Friday), this should mean by Saturday the URL we have already sent you with your tracking information will be active. Until then your tracking link will not provide you with any information


Canada deliveries 

Canada deliveries will also ship by UPS this coming Friday and you will receive the tracking information you require to track your order imminently.


Other countries

Orders for all other countries have already been dispatched and on Friday we will be sending out all of the tracking information. We are waiting until then as the shipment has to have reached its destination country for the tracking to function. 


Damaged figures

We have seen incidences of damaged figures (around 1 per 75 orders). We have identified this to being due to a particular courier we had been using here in the UK, combined with cold weather. As a security measure all US and Canadian orders have been packed with an additional protective layer of thermally insulated bubble wrap material. 

Again, please use our support website's contact form to report a damaged figure and will arrange a replacement to be sent out free of charge. 


The Android Version

The android version has been available for a few days, overall the feedback of the first players has been really amazing so we are really pleased. Please keep in mind that this is the first version and we've brought it from prototype to finished product in only 2 months, which with our limited budget is a huge achievement. We can assure everyone this is just the beginning and that you can expect additional twists to gameplay (including 'fastest finger' style rounds for example) in the fullness of time. 


If you already have the android version, please uninstall first before installing the new update we released yesterday (this is important, as not uninstalling it first may cause issues), the new update fixes a couple of bugs including one with the 'Wheel Spin' which we can assure you is now entirely random. 


The PC Version

We have a finished PC version, it will be available for download from our servers at the latest some time tomorrow, we are aiming for later today. The delay has been that in some cases as you installed it, the Windows Firewall was issuing warnings not to install the file. It has been quite complicated to overcome this quickly, but, I am told by our developers we are right at the end of the process. 


The iOS Version

We had been waiting patiently for Apple to approve the app. It has been complicated to get Apple approval, they are busier than usual at the moment with app submissions which did not help. We are just finalising a new iOS version which we are sure will be accepted quickly. Our target is to have the iOS version live by the weekend. We will keep you posted on this. 


We are aware many backers are complaining, but, our target / promise has always been to deliver in time for Christmas, so we still have that in our sights. We are doing our absolute best...


Repeat Questions

A handful of backers have mentioned repeat questions and this is something we have been investigating all week. We just want to assure everyone that this is an easy to solve issue and at the moment it is specific to users adding players in the "Junior" category. If you have had this issue then please follow the instructions above regarding uninstalling the current android version you are running above and then re-installing the new update. 


If you do experience an issue with repeat questions then please let us know about this on our support website, we ideally need to know: model of device, how many players, ages of players, version of the OS on your device, any other connected devices? And most importantly the category in which the repeat question occurred. Ideally, the exact questions that were repeated would be even more useful. 


As players are already playing much more than we anticipated (some families are already on their fourth of fifth game) we have made the choice to include a lot more questions for free, please bear with us whilst we do that. Our aim now is to provide around 8,000 questions as standard and those with the Limited Edition will get a further 3,000!  Any additional packs will be available in a few days time. 


Other bugs & questions 

We are please to say that we have had very few reports about any other major bugs which is great great news :)  We have had around 20 questions reported by backers as having some kind of issue and we have fixed those already.

Good evening.


By now some of our UK backers have already received Outsmarted which is great news! We are sure very soon everyone will get their order too. If any UK backers have not received tracking information for their delivery by Monday then please get in touch and we will track down your game. 


We are really happy that the first few families that have played today have enjoyed the game and we will keep listening to everyone's feedback to keep making improvements. 


We don't have time at the moment to write back to every comment here on Kickstarter, but hopefully this update answers all of the questions that have been asked. 


GETTING SUPPORT & ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Please in future for a quick answer to your questions or for support can everyone use our support website www.outsmarted.app  It is much easier for us to respond to you quickly than here on Kickstarter and you will ALWAYS get an answer. You can use the form on our website and quite often you will even find us on live chat!


THE PC VERSION

The PC version should be live tomorrow and YES you can definitely use a mouse if it is not touch screen. :)

FIGURES OR OTHER TRANSIT DAMAGE

We have become aware that in a few cases (around 1 in 200 games) one of the eight figures is damaged, if your delivery has sustained this kind of damage or any other issue then please send us a message on our support website using the contact form and select "Product Issue". Send us the exact details of your issue and we will work out a replacement.   


We agree the figures are delicate and should be treated with a little care, but, In our testing all of the characters have endured hundreds of hours of play including with younger children and the usual spills. 


It seems that the courier company used to deliver has in some isolated cases not taken the due care we expected.  Our apologies for this. Can we suggest that if you are unlucky enough to have received a figure damaged that if possible you make a temporary repair with super-glue to get you through the festive season and also please keep in mind you can only play with six figures so the temporary loss of use of one of the eight figures does not impact gameplay. 


THE iOS VERSION

We are optimistic that the iOS version of the app will be available mid-week. The delay is out of our hands and we are working hard to resolve it. 


CHALLENGING QUESTIONS

Our question database has gone through rigorous proof-reading and fact checking and we have a great team of question writers, but errors do happen. (Thanks James! :) 


We ask that if anyone finds any issue with a question (factual, gramatical etc..) that they report it to us immediately on our support website on the contact form.

Shipping & Game App Update

Hello everyone,

Just a quick message to say we began shipping yesterday in the UK. A few of you will already have received your tracking IDs and the rest will follow shortly! 


US & Canada backers will follow in just 5-7 days time, shipping from California. All other international orders started shipping yesterday, too!


Our fulfilment partners in the UK, USA & China are working as fast as they can to get orders out to everyone on time.


UK ORDERS

Within 24 hours of dispatch you will receive a message from Huboo, our fulfillment company with details of your tracking information. A few backers have already received this information, it is an automated process, others will shortly. 


US ORDERS

You will already have received your USPS tracking number from Pirate Ship this week. You will receive another email when your order ships (December 15th to 17th) and then you can begin tracking your order's movement. USPS advices us that all shipments that go out BEFORE December 19th will make it in time for Christmas delivery. 


Until your item has been collected by USPS (December 15th to 17th) your tracking number will not tell you anything , other than that it’s been created. The item is being shipped from California, with USPS Priority Mail 1-3 Business Days.


CANADA ORDERS

You will receive your UPS Tracking ID’s on Monday December 13th. Please be on the look-out from any communication from UPS, in case they require anything to get the item to you. These orders are also being collected between December 15th – December 17th. We’re shipping all orders with UPS (NOT USPS), to make sure they get to your order on time.


OTHER COUNTRIES

You will get an notification starting from TOMORROW, when your order ships. All international orders will ship either on December 11th or December 13th. The tracking ID will either come directly from us, or from Next Smart Ship. So be on the look-out for that. All shipments will be trackable!


OTHER NEWS - THE APPS!

You can now download the Android App on the Google Play Store, and the download link to our Windows/ PC app will be available some time tomorrow (December 11th) on our support website. You can also visit our support website ahead of time www.outsmarted.app. You might want to check some of the videos ahead of time!


You can also already try a few questions in the app ahead of time!


The iOS app was submitted 8 days ago to Apple and is taking little longer than the timescale they provided us, to go live, presumably because of Covid-19, and (according to them) “a large increase in the number of new apps being released that require their approval”. We will send out an update when the iOS app is live.  This is our top priority, as well as getting you the physical games on time!


Once you get the game, the support website is the ONLY place to communicate with us if you require assistance.


In normal times we try our hardest to give very detailed responses, so we’d appreciate your patience, and to look at the above updates and consider them, full and complete information 😊. We are only a small team, and are doing our best to make sure we deliver to everyone on time, and we have all hands on deck to ensure that happens. It's not long now!  We are sprinting (and genuinely not sleeping) to get the game to everyone. We cannot reply to individual Facebook Messenger questions regarding tracking updates. The update regarding tracking, is in this update 😊 (above). 


Please bear with us, and trust us when we say that we have worked tirelessly to achieve what is probably the fastest ever turnaround of a Kickstarter board game project getting delivered to its backers.
